Sips & Scribbles #10

Every day is a chance to care for yourself—one small step at a time.

As April wraps up, I’m feeling more grounded than I did at the start. This month, I focused on intentional self-care, and it made all the difference.

April’s Sips of Self-Care: I made time to enjoy solo outings at restaurants and happy hour drinks, savoring the moments. Pausing to meditate and unwind also became a daily habit, helping me reset during busy days. And, of course, audiobooks, whether fiction or nonfiction, gave me the perfect escape to recharge.

April Scribbles of Gratitude: I’m grateful for the peace I’ve found in slowing down. My stress levels are lower, and I’ve learned to appreciate life’s simple joys, like quiet moments of reflection or small acts of kindness. Though not every day was perfect, focusing on myself has helped me feel more balanced and content.

Here’s to carrying this sense of peace into May and embracing the simple moments, one sip and scribble at a time.

Sips & Scribbles #9

Every day is a chance to care for yourself—one small step at a time.

Today's Sips and Scribbles: Solo Dates and Outings

Have you ever taken yourself out on a date? I’ve been doing it pretty regularly for the past year, and honestly, it’s been such a breath of fresh air. Just me, myself, and I no distractions, no expectations, just time to sit with my own thoughts and discover what I actually enjoy.

I try to plan at least four solo dates or outings (yep, they’re different!) each month. This month, I’m right on track with three dates and one outing.

First up: a night at the symphony. It was so relaxing. I got there a little early, grabbed a drink, and just gave myself time to breathe before the music started. No rushing, no stressing just soaking it all in.

For my second date, I hit up a new sports bar for happy hour. I sat right at the bar, ordered a drink, an appetizer, and then went all in with a sandwich and fries. Not only was the food great, but I also found a new spot with awesome happy hour deals. Definitely a win.

My third solo date happened on Independent Bookstore Day. I made a little adventure out of it: visited three new bookstores, grabbed lunch at one of my favorite spots, and finished the day with a glass of wine at another bookstore, listening to my audiobook. It was honestly perfect.

And for my solo outing? I was invited to a tasting event at a local taco restaurant. I went by myself, but once I got there, I ended up connecting with some great people. There was a time when I would’ve never shown up to something like that alone, but now? I’m just happy to be included. Showing up solo feels powerful.

The more time I spend alone, the more at home I feel with myself. And that’s a feeling I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Sips & Scribbles #8

Every day is a chance to care for yourself—one small step at a time.

Hey Sips & Scribbles,

I’ve been away for a couple of weeks, and I can feel the difference. I’ve tried to hold onto the little moments of self-care, but sometimes the weight of stress and anxiety is heavier than those small rituals can carry.

Writing has been one of the ways I care for myself. While my journal has been a steady space to land, writing on this blog offers a deeper reminder of what matters. So I’m back, returning to my daily rhythm of slow sips of self-care and quiet scribbles of gratitude.

I treated myself to a golf outing with my son. Just an hour, but it was exactly what I needed to clear my head and breathe a little deeper.

Friends who check in, just because. That kind of love always lands right on time.

Thanks for reading and I hope you’re finding your own small sips of self-care and gratitude today.
